In December 2006 Topcon announced the acquisition of leading precision agricultural company, KEE Technologies Pty Ltd., an Australian company with over 25 years experience in agricultural electronics and applications, which focuses on the precision agriculture market. The combination of KEE‘s innovative display and variable rate control technology with high quality GPS solutions enables Topcon to deliver innovative guidance and machine control techniques developed specifically for the European agricultural market.

The Topcon X20 console adds value throughout the farm year, providing increased efficiency and enhanced capabilities to tractors and sprayers. First and most simply it can be a rate controller for liquid, granular or injection control systems. In addition it provides the enhanced functionality of Automated Section Control with the industry leading capability to control up to 30 individual or grouped boom sections.

The new AgCam addition to the X20 software and monitor package uses up to four video cameras strategically placed on the tractor or on any other piece of equipment - seeder, sprayer or harvester. The X20 Boom Leveler uses four ultrasonic sensors to maintain a user set distance between the operating spray boom and the ground or crop canopy.  This allows an operator to extend spraying into the night or early morning without having to worry about boom damage in low light conditions or uneven terrain. The X20 Weather Station module incorporates a combination of sensors – ultrasonic, temperature and humidity – to record and report on important weather conditions.
